Gehrschoen Creative was originally founded by Heidi Gehris-Butenschoen during the mid-1990’s in San Francisco. Ms. Gehris-Butenschoen earned a B.S. degree in Mass Communication and Advertising at Boston University. She then studied Communication Design in London, England, exploring and receiving instruction from agencies including Wolff Olins and Pentagram, several illustrators, and type designer Neville Brody. Later, she completed a series of web development courses in Portland, Oregon. Her education is thorough, from broad studies in Mass Communication to specific technical training. Ms. Gehris-Butenschoen has over seventeen years experience in communication design, beginning as an Art Director for AdLab, producing work for non-profit corporations in Boston and also as an intern at Boston Magazine. She designed trade journals and magazines in San Francisco in the early 1990s. Her foundation was strengthened with precise product color work at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. She then founded Gehrschoen Creative, designing projects for San Francisco Architectural Heritage, the San Francisco Ballet, and SFMOMA. After moving the studio from San Francisco to Portland in 1996, the company retained San Francisco-based clients and has added clients worldwide, from Frankfurt to Portland. Ms. Gehris-Butenschoen is the Creative Director.
